Exploring automation and AI to optimise our operation
Greater automation will be increasingly important as more and more new users take to the skies and we will need to be more flexible and agile in the services we provide.
But in an industry that is human-centric, decision-based and collaborative, it also poses some challenges. A technical solution today may be obsolete in a few years. COVID-19 reminds us that our industry must remain adaptable and flexible.
Our research is focused on meeting these challenges and identifying where we can take advantage of automation and artificial intelligence to support controllers and give them more time for the judgements they need to make as air traffic increases.
